Terminal is ready to help! Begin the process here. After completing your profile, you can explore full-time, remote roles at fast-growing companies in the US and Europe offering the compensation, career paths and learning experiences you deserve.
Terminal's mission is to push the world of work forward by bringing career opportunities to premier tech talent globally. Using our deep network of tech industry contacts, we connect exceptional engineers to the remote roles they can only get through Terminal.
Terminal wants its members to earn more, learn more and succeed as tech professionals while working from home. Named a “Best Place to Work” by Inc. magazine, Terminal offers developers exclusive, fully-remote roles at amazing companies, competitive salaries, and personalized experiences. Our customers are looking for remote-ready rock stars in some of the hottest tech areas from blockchain and cloud engineering to machine learning, web development and more. As our needs expand as our customer base grows, we strongly encourage developers to start the process now.
The first step in that process is creating your Terminal profile. The more information you include in your profile, the increased chance you'll find a role that's perfect for you!
No. It's 100% free to join Terminal. After completing a profile, on average, users received up to 2-3 interview requests within 2 weeks.
No. Terminal supports its partners in recruiting engineers, but we also remain your legal employer in your home country and provide support for as long as you’re employed. This allows US companies to hire developers outside of the US, while also offering developers the flexibility of 100% remote work in either full-time or contract roles.
You decide whether you are open to taking contract roles, full-time roles, or both. Contract roles are fully supported by Terminal and frequently offer contract-to-hire paths. Full-time roles receive the benefits that come along with that status in your home country, such as country-specific holidays and severance requirements. These laws and benefits vary from country to country.
For full-time roles, you will be employed full-time by Terminal. For contract roles, you will be contracted by Terminal. Your work will be fully remote in your country of residence, and 100% dedicated to the partner company who offered you the role. While Terminal handles all of your contracts and benefits, you will be embedded in the partner's engineering team. We often hear that our hires feel like they are truly a part of the team, no different from other employees at their company.
You decide the Terminal customer you work for, as part of the interviewing process, and unlike other employment options, you only support one customer. You are always in control.
Terminal is equally rigorous in vetting potential customer and talent. Every client, before joining Terminal, has to demonstrate it meets our strict financial and legal qualifications, as well as to prove their job openings would be good fits for our tech community. We've never had to drop a customer due to bad reviews from members, and we actively deny companies who fall short of our high standards.
Terminal recruits exceptional engineers and developers living in seven key markets: Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Poland and Spain. While we care more about actual skills than academic credentials and professional titles, our most successful hires for the senior developer roles we offer come with at least 3+ years of relevant experience after completing a college degree. We strongly recommend you create a profile to see if you qualify for an open role.
Terminal hires a wide range of tech talent, including, but not limited to front-end developers, back-end developers, full stack developers, software engineers, mobile developers and more. Similarly, we recruit engineers across different tech stacks including .Net, Angular, AWS, C/C++, Django, Docker, Go, Java, Javascript, MySQL, Node, NoSQL, Python, React, Ruby, Typescript and others. Don't see your expertise listed? Sign up to Terminal now, and you'll be alerted when a relevant role becomes available.
Yes. English proficiency is a requirement of employment and will be assessed during the screening phase. All interviews are expected to be conducted in English.
Currently, we hire tech talent living in Canada, Latin America (Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica & Mexico) and Europe (Poland & Spain). Depending on its needs, each partner company may select one or all of these locations. You will only be matched with roles that are available in your country of residence or hold a work authorization.
We are currently focused on hiring engineers in Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Poland and Spain, though we have ambitious plans to expand wherever we see untapped talent and opportunity. We strongly encourage you to follow Terminal's expansion plans by following us on LinkedIn or other social media platforms for the latest news and updates.
Just like a typical hiring process, salaries are set based on a number of factors and vary from role to role. Each offer is unique to the partner company, the role, and the candidate. It is very common, with the help of a dedicated Terminal specialist, to negotiate a compensation package with equity that is higher than what a developer could expect in his or her local community. Since four of five candidates ultimately accept their offer with Terminal, you can feel confident that you will be paid what you're worth!
As your official employer or contracting partner, Terminal will pay your salary, and for full-time roles will provide all your benefits. Our dedicated team has local knowledge and will do everything to make the payment process fast, smooth and effortless. For full-time roles, developers typically are paid in local currency. For contract roles, developers are paid in US Dollars.
Benefits for full-time roles can vary slightly between our partner companies, but standard benefits include healthcare benefits (like dental and vision), a remote workspace budget, and paid vacation time. Contract roles are generally ineligible for benefits.
Terminal can support a wide range of working options, and you will learn these details during the interview process. What's universal is (1) these roles are remote, so you won't waste time in traffic going to the office; (2) these roles are time-zone aligned, so you will have regular contact with your team throughout your work day; and, (3) as a Terminal member, you will have full access to hundreds of tech professionals within the Terminal community, who are eager to get to know you.
Every completed profile will be reviewed by a Terminal talent specialist and assessed for quality and fit. From there, you'll begin a process together of identifying the right remote opportunity for you. Typically, engineers with relevant skills and experience who complete a profile will be offered 2-3 interviews within the first 2 weeks.
Each partner company conducts its own interview process. This typically involves a combination of technical assessments (e.g., white boarding, paired coding, take-home project) and interviews. All interviews are conducted remotely, typically via Zoom, and our talent specialist is with candidates every step of the way from the first interview to the offer letter to answer questions.
To ensure your profile gets noticed by the right companies, we offer the same advice to every candidate as they complete their profiles: be honest and thorough about your skills and experience, be direct about the roles you want and show enthusiasm during the interview process.
Every job applicant through Terminal has a dedicated talent specialist, who will be his or her champion throughout the recruitment process. Our new members regularly praise our professionals who make the job search process frustration-free and simple. Once you become a member and get hired by Terminal, you will be assigned an equally dedicated HR specialist.
We strongly encourage potential Terminal members to hear from our existing members about the value that Terminal has brought to their lives, both personally and professionally.
We understand if the timing isn't right to join Terminal yourself, but we reward individuals who sign up for Terminal to get their friends and colleagues hired. If you know somebody who would benefit from Terminal, sign up now to begin the referral process. If your friend or colleague becomes a full-time Terminal employee, Terminal will offer you each $1000 USD.
