Yes. It's 100% free for engineers to join and use Terminal. We never charge candidates.
Roles & Employment
Terminal offers full-time remote roles (Terminal is your legal employer, full benefits package), contract roles (fixed-term, typically 6 or 12 months, paid in USD), and contract-to-hire paths where a contract can convert to permanent employment.
That depends on the role and your preference. You can pursue full-time roles, contract roles, or both.
Terminal is your legal employer in your home country for full-time roles. Your day-to-day work is fully dedicated to one partner company — but Terminal manages your employment, payroll, and benefits.
Contract roles are fixed-term arrangements (typically 6 or 12 months). Terminal manages payroll and contracting services. Contract engineers are paid in USD and do not receive the full FTE benefits package.
Some roles begin as contracts with the option to convert to full-time employment if there's a strong mutual fit. Terminal will communicate clearly whether a role has a contract-to-hire path.
You do. You'll interview with Terminal's partner companies and decide which role is right for you. You'll always work with one company at a time.
Eligibility & Geography
Terminal actively sources and vets engineers in 9 markets: Canada; Latin America (Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico); and Europe (Poland, Spain, Romania, and Hungary).
Terminal looks for strong technical skills, 3+ years of relevant professional experience, and professional-level English communication. A formal degree is not required — skills and track record matter most.
Yes. All interviews are conducted in English and professional-level English communication is a firm requirement. Terminal declines candidates who don't meet this standard.
Terminal hires across a range of technical disciplines: frontend, backend, full stack, mobile, DevOps, QA, data science, data engineering, engineering leadership, product management, and design.

Compensation & Benefits
Salaries are based on your role, experience, skills, and location — benchmarked against competitive local market rates. Your salary will be discussed and negotiated as part of the hiring process.
Full-time employees are paid in their local currency. Contract engineers are paid in USD.
Full-time Terminal employees receive a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare (medical, dental, and vision), a remote workspace budget, paid time off, and HR and IT support.
Contract engineers receive competitive compensation with Terminal managing payroll and contracting services. Contract roles do not include the full FTE benefits package.
Most Terminal roles are fully remote and time-zone aligned — you'll work directly with the team at the company that hired you, just like any other employee. Some engineers join a Center of Excellence, a regionally clustered team arrangement, though this is a less common path. Either way, you'll have a typical workplace environment with your partner company's colleagues.
The Hiring Process
Terminal's talent specialists review your profile and match you with relevant roles. If there's a fit, you'll be introduced to the partner company for their technical assessments and interviews.
Terminal's talent team conducts an initial live screen with you to assess your skills, experience, and fit. As specific roles become available at partner companies, each company then runs its own interview process — typically including a technical assessment and one or more video interviews.
Be specific and complete in your profile, honest about your skills and experience, and engaged and enthusiastic during interviews. Clear communication and a proactive attitude go a long way.
Every Terminal candidate has a dedicated talent specialist who acts as your advocate throughout the entire recruitment process — keeping you informed and prepared at every step.
